EWHURST JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB

Welcome to the 2007 – 2008 season to all returning and new members

After the annual reshuffle at the AGM I humbly accepted the position of Chairman and I would like to start with a big thank you to all the coaches, team administrators and others who are giving their time again this coming season to enable the children to enjoy their football. Please see the contact list attached for current details on coaches, team administrators and committee.

I’d like to thank Lizzie Motchman, Gary Summers and Sam Stanbrook for their work as Team Administrators last season.

A major issue as always is finding volunteers for everything that needs doing, so I am thrilled to announce that Mark Stanbrook is our new coach for the new U6s intake, and Catherine Vandersteen is the new Team Administrator for the U7s. Although this is great news, don’t worry, there are still plenty vacancies for those of you feeling left out.

Ewhurst Junior FC is an inclusive club, which means that everyone who turns up plays, regardless of ability. In our club constitution it is clarified that we do not enter teams into FA affiliated leagues until the players are in year 6 and from then on only if it’s right for the team. We offer regular matches through organised friendly games. A summary of our club constitution is attached, and the full version is on the notice board in the clubhouse.

Another important document that you may not be aware of is our Child Welfare Policy. Anyone who is concerned about any issues regarding the abuse of children, whether in relation to verbal or physical abuse or bullying, please take note of our Child Welfare Policy on the notice board in the Clubhouse, which provides information on our policy and contact details for any action required.

This season our U7s will start to play friendly matches and the U8s, U9s, U10s and U11s will play in a local friendly ‘league’. Our U15s will be playing their games in the Horsham & District Youth Football League.

We are all working hard to make Ewhurst Junior FC a well organised club, and we are hoping this season to make serious progress towards attaining the FA Charter Standard. We already have more qualified coaches than many bigger clubs in the area, and from an organisational point of view we are not that far from what the FA hopes to see in a junior club.

This season we will spend a fair chunk of money on grounds maintenance and we will continue to make slow progress on the new clubhouse. There is now a charitable trust with representatives from the Parish Council, the adult football club, Ewhurst Youth Club and us (our trustee is Norbert Sene, U15s coach) pushing the clubhouse initiative, and we will keep you up to date on developments.

Let me finish by wishing you all a great season.

Jan Hagen Chairman 2007 - 2008
